LAGRANGEVILLE – Robert A. Moreau, 84, a resident of the Town of LaGrange since 1969, formerly of Illinois, died at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie on Monday, February 7, 2011.
In 1990, he retired as a Senior Analyst for I.B.M., where he had been employed at the locations in East Fishkill, Poughkeepsie and Armonk for over 30 years. Robert was a communicant of St. Denis Church in Hopewell Junction, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years. He was also a member of the American Legion and enjoyed playing the banjo.
Born in Chicago, IL on August 8, 1926, he was son of the late Eugene and Irene Hibbard Moreau. In 1944, Robert enlisted in the U.S. Navy, served his country during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946. In 1950, he received a Masters Degree in Engineering from the University of Wisconsin.
On June 5, 1954, he married Betty Konecy in Elmhurst, IL. Mrs. Moreau survives at home.
Additional survivors include his three sons, Mark Moreau & his wife Susan of Connecticut, William Moreau & his wife Cheryl of LaGrangeville, and Daniel Moreau of LaGrangeville; his daughter, Victoria Floyd & her husband Gary of Colorado; his grandchildren, Stacey Tank & her husband Trevor of Connecticut, Jacqueline Moreau of Pennsylvania, Kyle Moreau of Poughkeepsie, Lindsay Moreau of New York City, Robert B. Moreau and Gary Floyd III of Colorado; his great-grandson, Jackson Tank; and many other loving family members and friends.
There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 p.m. on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction. Interment with Military Honors will follow at St. Denis Cemetery.
