Obituary

Robert A. Murk, a resident of Beacon, NY since 2015 and formerly of Brooklyn, passed away peacefully at his daughter's home on Tuesday, September 24, 2024. He was 75.

Son of the late Harry F. Murk and Margaret Deitz, he was born in Brooklyn on December 14, 1948. In 1970, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served as a Corpsman, providing medical assistance to a U.S. Marine Corps detachment during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged from active service in 1972, and then continued to serve as a Reservist until 1975.

In addition to his military service, he was a dedicated community member who assisted organizations such as the Brooklyn Bucket Brigade and Camp Friendship Youth Programs. Throughout his lifetime, Bob worked in construction and was the owner/operator of Murkwood Enterprises.

On February 20, 1971, he married Elizabeth Douglass in Brooklyn. Bob was predeceased by his wife in 2004.

Survivors include his daughter, Pamela and her husband Mark of Beacon, NY; his daughter, Karen and her partner Greg of Everett, WA; his son, Christian of Beacon, NY; and his grandchildren, Mark (fiancé Danielle), Kayla, Elizabeth, Nickolas, and Nathan.

In addition to his wife and parents, Robert was also predeceased by his siblings, Harold, Donald, and Patricia.

A committal service with Military Honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 27 at Calverton National Cemetery, 210 Princeton Boulevard, Calverton, NY.
