Robert P. Neary, age 93, died peacefully at his home in Fishkill, NY, with his loving family at his side on July 19, 2026. A long-time Fishkill resident, Bob was born in Beacon, NY, on August 17, 1932. He married his wife Patricia Valentino on October 26, 1963.
Bob was a graduate of Beacon High School and Villanova University. He served his country as a Korean War veteran in the U.S. Army before starting his long and distinguished career at IBM as a Global Materials Planning Manager (Poughkeepsie and Somers).
He met his wife at a Catholic club dance in Newburgh in 1961. It was love at first sight, and it must have worked because it lasted for 63 years. They settled in Fishkill and had three children, Chris, Tim, and Katy. Bob was a wonderful husband, father and friend.
His faith was very important to him. Bob was a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Mary's in Fishkill for almost 50 years and a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus in Beacon. He also had many interests, including his love of Beacon, the Jersey Shore, his favorite sports teams, Villanova basketball, Army football, and proud but long-time suffering fan of the Mets and Giants, and his daily Manhattan. He ran every morning for 40 years before it was a popular thing to do, until he was 70. He was often seen running in the village. He was an avid-golfer, playing into his 80s, and was a former member of Southern Dutchess County Club in Beacon for many years.
He is predeceased by his parents, William and Mary (Ferry) Neary, his son, Christopher, his brother, Bill Neary, his sister, Suzanne Fahlman and her husband John, and his niece, Alice Rahemba. He is survived by his wife, Patricia, his son, Timothy and his wife Gina, his daughter, Katy, and five grandchildren, Aurora, Cole, Tyler, Connor, and Grace, his nieces, Amy and Susan, and nephews, Tony and Johnny.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, July 23rd from 4:00-7:00 pm at McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, INC. 1089 Main Street, Fishkill, NY 12524.
