Robert "Bobby O" Ohliger, 56, a lifelong area resident, died unexpectedly on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
Born in Amityville on March 19, 1955, Robert served honorably as a Clinical Specialist in the US Army. For 27 years, he was employed with the New York State Department of Corrections until his retirement in 2006 at the rank of Sergeant. During this time he worked at Green Haven, Fishkill, Downstate and Camp Beacon Correctional Facilities. He loved spending time with his family and riding his Harley.
On April 9, 1978 at the Hopewell Reformed Church, Robert married Evelyn Russell who survives at home. He is also survived by his son Jason and his wife Lisa (Honesdale, PA), his son Jeffrey and his fiance Julie Gordon (Schenectady), and his grandson Avery, whom he adored. Additionally, he is survived by his brothers Richard and his wife Ruth (Wappingers Falls), Erik and his wife Lorrie (Poughkeepsie), his sister Kristine Moller (Wappingers Falls), and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Funeral Service will be held at 10:30am on Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Taylor Holbrook officiating. Interment in Fishkill Rural Cemetery will follow.
