Hyde Park- Robert G. Ritter, a resident of Hyde Park, NY, passed away on June 20, 2025, at home surrounded by his loving family.
Robert was born on March 13, 1962, in Fort Dix, NJ, the son of Walter and Ruth Ann (Petterson) Ritter.
Robert worked as a Foreman for Fossati Plumbing in Brewster, NY.
He had a love of motorcycles, especially his Harley. He enjoyed heavy metal music and tinkering with his Model T. He loved his pickles and unique foods that you would never know existed. He had a passion for always learning new things. You never knew what he would be researching next. His very good friends got him hooked on RC cars. In his spare time they would race their RC cars, build ramps and take them off of jumps. He thoroughly enjoyed watching NASCAR races and cooking, as well as hunting and fishing.
Robert was a selfless man who was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was a smart, funny, kind, and compassionate man who would give you the shirt off his back. He was always on the hunt to learn something new and expand his knowledge on the world. You could often find him watching the news, the discovery channel, big foot sightings, and convincing everyone that aliens have stepped foot on earth.
He had a strong mechanical sense and could look at anything and fix it. Once his illness advanced and he was home on hospice, he still managed to work on cuckoo clocks and became a professional scooter driver, driving his granddaughter Amelia through the neighborhood.
Robert is survived by his former wife: Linda Ritter and their two daughters: Dana Ritter-Tierney and her husband Matt, Nicole Ritter and her fiancé Connor Edwards and their daughter Amelia Edwards (Pop's sunshine), his mother Ruth Ann Ritter, his brother Kenneth Ritter and his wife Doreen, sisters Karen Smith and her husband Tim, and Heidi Link and her husband Gary. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, friends and his beloved dog Odin.
He was predeceased by his father, Walter Ritter, and his nephew Connor Smith.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, from 5 pm - 8 pm at McHoul Funeral Home Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, NY, with a service beginning at 7:30 pm in the funeral home. There will not be a burial as Robert's wishes were to be cremated.
