Robert Van Tassel, 64, died unexpectedly on October 20, 2022. He was surrounded by his family.

"Bobby," "Bob," "Bob Bob," "Rob," and very lovingly, "Pooh," was a devoted husband, father, son, brother and Papa. Bobby was born October 11, 1958 in Cold Spring, NY to parents Robert and Carolyn. He grew up in Beacon and graduated from Beacon High in 1977. In 1979, Bobby joined the Army and served until 1982 as an M.P. In 1978, he joined Chelsea Fire Company. Here he made friends that became family. He held the positions of firefighter, Lieutenant, Captain, Assistant Chief, Chief, and Commissioner. In 1984, he started work at Emergency Control/Global Foundries. At E.C./G.F. he considered his team as "his kids."

In 1999, he married the love of his life and soul mate Georgeann. They spent the last 23 years loving each other and supporting their family as it grew. They kept the family close with hosting parties every Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Eve, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day and any reason in between. Bobby was an avid Runner with Grassroot Running. He enjoyed golfing with margaritas, concerts with parking lot parties, and spending time with his family.

Bobby leaves behind his mom, Carolyn Muller; his devoted wife Georgeann; children: Trisha Van Tassel Betley (Jason), Timothy McDougall (Sarah), Brittany Nawrocki (James) and Amber McDougall; grandchildren: R.J. "Robert", Christopher, JamieLee, Sophia, and Henry. He also leaves behind his loving sister Karen Powles (Bill) and brother Michael Slinskey; his nieces and nephews: K.C., Billy, Meghan, Autumn, and Zackary.

He is predeceased by his father Robert Van Tassel; brother William Van Tassel; dad Herbert Muller; maternal and paternal grandparents.

Calling hours will be held on Monday October 24th from 2-6 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc. 1089 Main St. Fishkill, NY. A firematic funeral service will begin at 6 pm. Family and friends are welcome to join in the Celebration of his Life at Hidden Rose Catering Hall at 7 pm, following the funeral service.
