Robert T. Vaccarino, 78, an area resident since 1977 and formerly of Yonkers, died on July 17, 2016.
Born in Yonkers on September 3, 1937, Bob was the son of Gabriel and Fannie Suriano Vaccarino. He was employed as a firefighter with the City of Yonkers Fire Department and at Yonkers Raceway. Following his retirement, he worked for the Hudson Valley Renegades, Mercedes in Wappingers, and West Point. Bob was a parishioner of St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction. He was a member of Joe DiMaggio Lodge, Sons of Italy. An avid golfer and card player, he also enjoyed food and travel.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Mary (Lynch) Vaccarino and his children, Robert Vaccarino of Ormond Beach, FL, Gloria Vaccarino and her fiance John Hollister of LaGrange, and Mark Vaccarino of Los Angeles, CA. He was predeceased by his daughter, Kathleen Vaccarino-Abuso. He is also survived by his son-in-law, Mark Abuso and his grandchildren, Megan, Lindsey, Chad, Jasmine, Buddy, Kayleen, Auston, Adam, Melissa, Paula, Sammantha and Johnna. He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Bobbie. Other survivors include his great grandchildren, Kiersten, Ava, Connor, Ciarra, Luna and Nolan; and his sister, Gloria Vaccarino. He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Vaccarino.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 6-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.
