POUGHQUAG – Robert C. Wilson, 87, an area resident for 44 years, died on February 9, 2017 at home surrounded by his family. He previously lived in Plainview, LI.
Born in the Bronx on March 31, 1929, he was the son of the late Charles and Ella (Wamsley) Wilson. He proudly served in the Naval Reserves and then later in the US Army during the Korean War.
Bob retired in 1986 as General Foreman from Con Edison in the Bronx where he worked for 38 years. He was a parishioner at St. Denis Church in Hopewell Junction. Bob was an avid NY Giants fan, and had played semi pro football when he was younger. He will forever be remembered as a hard worker, who took pride in his career, his home, his garden, and especially his family.
On May 21, 1955 at St. Gregory the Great Church in Belrose, LI, Bob married Marion (Stroehlein) Wilson. His wife of over 61 years survives at home. He is also survived by his children, Deborah Melious of Verbank, Patricia Sena and her husband Nicholas of Poughquag, Kathleen Tobin and her husband James of Poughquag, Robert Wilson and his wife Carol of Verbank, Karen Wilson and her companion Brian Souza of Hopewell Junction, and Michael Wilson and his wife Melissa of Poughquag; his grandchildren, Daniel Melious and his wife Ali, Nicole Dwyer and her husband Brendan, Nicholas Sena and his fiancée Jessica Bisacquino, Kathryn Sena, Kristin Tobin, James Tobin, Lindsay Tobin, Ella Wilson, Connor Wilson, Lily Wilson, Katelyn Humphress and her husband Owen, Jenna Wilson, Megan Wilson, and Ryan Wilson; his great-grandchildren, Dalton and Jack Melious, Avery and Ashlynn Dwyer, and Christian Humphress; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Bob was also predeceased by his son-in-law, Daniel Melious and his grandchildren, Lauren Sena, Justin Malkemus, and Sean Wilson.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 3-7 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday at 10 am at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction followed by burial at St. Denis Cemetery with military honors.
