Rodolfo Ricardo, a Hopewell Junction resident since 2012, formerly of Yonkers and Manhattan, died at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie on Monday, October 6, 2014. He was 84.
Son of the late Fermin and Oneida (Perez) Ricardo, he was born in Cuba on July 9, 1930. At the age of 15, he emigrated to the United States and settled in New York City. He later enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the Korean Conflict.
Rodolfo worked as an electrical engineer for Kaluystan Corporation, a spice importing company in Union, NJ. In 2012, he retired at the age of 80. He had many talents, especially gardening. He loved to cook for his family and friends, and was an avid fisherman.
On June 12, 1954, he married Lucy Corniel in New York City. She predeceased him on July 9, 1999.
Survivors include his two daughters, Anne Moreno & her husband Antonio of Stormville and Nancy Yaremko & her husband Robert of Hopewell Junction; four grandchildren, Anthony Moreno and Alexa, Erika, and Gianna Yaremko; his brother, Orlando Ricardo of New Jersey; three sisters, Ruth Mederos of Florida, Rosa Morales & her husband Jorge of Florida, and Sonia Rendueles & her husband Ray of Florida; and many nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives & friends.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 9 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 10 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill.
