Rodrigo J. "Rudy" Sanding, a Bedford Hills resident since 2015, formerly of Davao City, Philippines, passed away at home on Tuesday, May 31, 2022. He was 72.
Son of the late Demetrio and Soledad (Jumo-as) Sanding, he was born in Cebu City, Philippines on September 19, 1949.
For 52 years, Rudy worked for Citadel Shipping Services, Inc. in Manila. He worked his way up to the rank of Chief Engineer and became an established & well-respected leader. He retired in 2019. He left his fingerprints in every heart he touched and all the lives he changed. He had a great journey on earth and he was surrounded with so much love.
He enjoyed many hobbies including basketball, hiking, buffet meals, and mechanical & electrical repair work. He was a parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Mount Kisco.
On December 22, 1977, Rudy married Susana Padilla at Sta. Anna Church in Davao City, Philippines. Susana survives at home in Bedford Hills.
Additional survivors include his son, Mark Sanding & his wife Teresita of Bedford Hills; his daughter, Shella Grace Sanding of Bedford Hills; his daughter, Stephanie Sanding of Bedford Hills; his daughter, Shirley Mae Sanding of Davao City, Philippines; his grandchildren, Christopher Mark Sanding and Sam Patrick Sanding; his siblings, Evangeline Suarez & her husband Omar, Prospera Ablegas, Emperatriz de Castro, Adelaida Sanding, Modesto Sanding & his wife Angelina, and Rosa Ramirez & her husband Robert; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives & friends.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 4 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill, NY. Following the Mass, calling hours will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill, NY.
