MILLBROOK – Roger P. Jacques, 82, an area resident since January, died on May 29, 2013 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He formerly lived in Amawalk, NY, Longmeadow, MA, Southborough, MA, and Sudbury, MA.
Born in Limestone, ME, he was the son of the late Prudent and Leontine (Ouellette) Jacques. He grew up in Caribou, ME and graduated with his Master's Degree in Education from Boston University. On November 26, 1960 in Brookline, MA, he married Mary Cosmopulous who survives at home.
Roger owned and operated Jackdaw Publications in Amawalk for 25 years. He was a parishioner at St. Patrick's Church in Yorktown Heights. An avid gardener, he also enjoyed sailing, fishing, hunting, reading and studying history.
In addition to his wife of 52 years, Roger is survived by his children, Christine Pena and her husband Tony of Beacon, Adrian Jacques and his wife Karen of Poughquag, and Julie Tremblay and her husband David of Needham, MA; his grandchildren, Anthony and Michael Pena, Lauren and Lexi Jacques, and Luke and Joy Tremblay; his brothers, Norris Jacques of Frederick, MD and Fr. Michael Jacques of New Orleans, LA; and his brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Renee Cosmopulous.
Calling hours will be held on Monday from 5 – 8 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 am at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction with his brother, Fr. Michael Jacques, officiating. Interment will follow in St. Denis Cemetery.
