Romano Mollicone Sr., 83 of Hopewell Junction, NY (formerly of Yonkers, NY) passed away on January 14, 2021 at his home with his family by his side. Romano was born on August 19, 1937 in Roccasecca, Italy. He was the son of Bernardo and Elvira (Calcagni) Mollicone and had eight siblings. As a boy he was an avid runner in which he won medals for. He also played soccer, loved to learn and graduated college in Italy. Romano met the love of his life, Anna Fraioli and followed her to America to begin a life together. They married January 20, 1962 at Mount Carmel Church in Yonkers and went on to raise three sons. In 1978, he opened and managed his own business, Romano Truck Repair, Inc. in Yonkers until retirement. Romano was a parishioner of the Roman Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus in Thornwood. He enjoyed playing cards, lotto and going to the casinos. His pastimes were watching Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune. He also loved soccer and baseball and was a New York Mets fan. In 2005, Romano and Anna moved to Hopewell Junction to be closer to their family. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, liked to tell jokes, stories, and was loved by all. He will be dearly missed.
Romano is survived by his wife Anna (Fraioli) Mollicone, his son Lorenzo B. Mollicone of Miami, Fl., along with his twin brother Stefano Mollicone, his wife Dolores, and their children Brittany, Steven, and Kristen with husband Mark, and their sons, Theodore and Nathanial, who all reside in Montgomery, NY; and his youngest son, Romano Mollicone Jr., his wife Linda, and their children Isabella, Ashley, and twins Andrew and Christopher, who reside in Hopewell Jct. Romano is also survived by his sister’s Rosa and Anna (Italy), brother in-laws Pompeo Fraioli (Italy) and Carmine Fraioli with wife Michelina (Yonkers), and many nieces and nephews here and in Italy.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 from 4-9 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction NY. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at 10:00 am, St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by entombment at Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale, NY.
