LAGRANGE – Ronald Roger D'Souza, 82, died peacefully at his home on November 26, 2022 after several months of illness.
Ron was born in Bombay, India on April 27, 1940 to A.J.H. D'Souza and Mary Magdalene Brito D'Souza. He received his engineering bachelors from the Birla Institute of Technology in India and then came to the USA to complete his Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania. Ron had a long career at IBM before retiring in 1993. He took up a second career as a management consultant and auditor, which gave him opportunities to see many parts of the world.
He loved singing and was a song leader and member of the church choir for many years. He encouraged everyone around him to sing and often got the most reluctant to do so. He will be remembered for his boundless energy and endless curiosity. He had great love for his family, enjoyed discussion, and had a great sense of humor.
Ron is survived by his wife of 56 years, Rosalie Swisher D'Souza, and four children: Kim D'Souza (Sandy), Holly Benson (Mark), Jason D'Souza (Penny), and Roger D'Souza (Lauren). He is also survived by six grandchildren: James, Miles, and Leela Benson, Lucas and Alexander D'Souza, and Alice D'Souza, as well as his brother Llewelyn D'Souza of Boston, MA and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Four additional siblings predeceased him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10am at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church, 1925 Route 82, Lagrangeville followed by interment in Rhinebeck Natural Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
