Obituary

Ronald Charles Schwalbe (Ron), 82, an area resident since 1981 and formerly of Armonk and Mahopac, died on September 1, 2025 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center surrounded by family and friends.

Born in Camden, NJ on December 12, 1942, he was the son of the late Charles A. Schwalbe, Jr. and Gloria Lucille (Slater) Schwalbe. On September 12, 1964 in Chappaqua, Ron married his beloved wife Susan Ann Zelt who predeceased him on July 2, 1995. He is survived by his daughters and their husbands, Christa Cerul (Ed) and Beth Wutzl (Brant) and four loving grandchildren who will miss their "Babba" greatly; Heather Cerul Gardner (Stephen), Lauren Cerul, Samuel Wutzl, and Nina Wutzl. He was looking forward to the arrival of his first great-granddaughter in November. He loved knowing that he was going to be a "Great Babba".

In addition to his children and grandchildren, he also leaves behind his three brothers, Marty (Terri), Steve (Carol), and Eric (Jodi) Schwalbe who were some of his best friends and with whom he carried out countless antics and adventures beginning in childhood and continuing throughout his life. His brothers and their wives gave him many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who he loved greatly. We know that they will all miss the eccentricities of their "Uncle Babba".

"Back in the day" he was a founding member of the RonDons, a band local to Armonk in the 60's. He loved his bandmates (here's to Steve and Skip and the others!) and always enjoyed recalling the memories of their glory days.

For 30+ years Ron was the owner and operator of Homeowners Diversified Services where he shared his home improvement and handyman skills with countless individuals and families in the area. He took great pride in his work and loved knowing that he was a small part of making someone's house a home. He was also a masterful woodworker and gifted his family with many treasured heirloom pieces.

Ron was a self-professed TV fanatic who loved to eat. He was happiest when he could do those two things at the same time. He loved muscle cars, drag racing, go-carting, hockey, NASCAR and football...but hated pickles (they shouldn't exist!).

A Celebration of Life will be held in the future.

Memorial donations may be made in Ron's honor to Victory Junction (www.victoryjunction.org). Victory Junction is a medically safe, yet exhilarating camp, that challenges children who have a serious medical condition to try things they never imagined possible. As an avid NASCAR fan with a long-time appreciation for Richard Petty and the entire Petty family, Ron would love to support this charity in his death. Victory Junction was founded in honor of Adam Petty and is described as a "serious fun camp". Ron was all about serious fun.
