Ronald E. Zajac died on Monday, October 24, 2011, at Putnam Ridge Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Brewster after a long and difficult illness. Ron was courageous in enduring his illness and an inspiration to those who loved him.
Born in Yonkers, he was the son of Anna and Walter Zajac. He was predeceased by his sister, Dorothy Cabrera, and a brother who died in infancy.
He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force. Ron was a member of St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction. He was Vice President of Reelex Packaging Solutions, Inc. in Patterson where he worked for 40 years until his retirement.
Ron married Evelyn Mynarski in November of 1972 at the Sacred Heart Church in Yonkers.
In addition to his wife, Evelyn, he is survived by his daughter, Sue Cappannelli and her husband Tony and two granddaughters, Cassidy and Rhiannon; his uncle, Michael Grubiak of Yonkers; his sister-in-law, Kathy Siegeltuch; his brother-in-law, Thomas Mynarski; his nieces, Sandra Siegeltuch, Erica Diaz, Nicole Mynarski, and Jacqueline Mynarski; his nephew, Alex Siegeltuch; and his cousin, Joan Jenkins and her husband Tom, as well as other cousins.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 10 am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment at St. Denis Cemetery with military honors.
