Obituary

Rosalie “Lee” Matheson died on Friday, January 13, 2017 at her home in Clinton Corners.

Daughter of the late Paul and Adele Schmidt, she was born on August 20, 1942 and raised in the Bronx.

A long-time resident of Dutchess County, she spent years as a 4H leader when her children were growing up, and in her later years was an accredited wildlife rehabilitator, and the owner of Mother Nature’s Grooming in Billings. She was well known and respected throughout the county for her love and devotion to lost, sick and injured animals.

Lee is survived by her three children, Jade Craven, Jessie Matheson and Matthew Matheson; her granddaughter, Adele Craven; and her sister, Paulette Strauss.

Lee was predeceased by her former husband, James Matheson and is survived by her husband, Randy Strickland.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-9pm with an informal memorial celebration at 7pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. Please use this time to share your thoughts and memories of Lee. There will also be a celebration of Lee’s life in the spring.
