Rosalind Jean Garcey, 73, a lifelong area resident, died peacefully at her home on June 4, 2026 surrounded by her loving family following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Poughkeepsie on August 11, 1953, she was the daughter of the late George and Marion (Fisher) Lown. Rosalind was employed as a registered nurse at Arms Acres in Carmel. Rosalind filled her life with compassion and service, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of those she cared for throughout her nursing career. Her unwavering commitment to her patients and their families exemplified her nurturing spirit and kind heart.
Roz enjoyed shopping, reading, cooking and visiting casinos, especially those in Atlantic City. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. She looked forward to traveling to Maine where she enjoyed eating lobster, and to big family Christmas celebrations. However, more than anything else in the world, Ros loved and lived for her family.
In remembering Rosalind, we reflect on her gentle spirit, her compassionate heart, and the profound impact she had on so many lives. She will be deeply missed but forever cherished in our hearts.
On May 12, 1979, in Poughkeepsie, Roz married the love of her life, Robert W. Garcey, who predeceased her on December 17, 2014. She is survived by her children, Craig Garcey, Andrea Calcutti and her husband Joseph, and Sarah Hawley; her grandchildren, Jordan, Jaden, Audrey, Leighla, Addison, Landon, Joseph, Jonathan, Carter, Makenzie and Tegan; her siblings, George Lown and Theresa Nemeth and her husband Bill; her sister-in-law Lynn Osmers and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also predeceased by her sister, Lori Heady.
