Rose M. Montrone, 93, a resident of Wappingers Falls for 23 years and formerly of the Bronx, died on April 1, 2016 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

Born in New York City on October 29, 1922, she was the daughter of Giuseppe and Concetta Saraceno Rotondi. Extremely artistic and creative, Rose enjoyed painting, knitting, crocheting and cooking.

On January 6, 1946 at Our Lady of Grace Church in the Bronx, Rose married Ralph Montrone who predeceased her on July 15, 1990. She is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Mary Ellen and William Santoro of Wappingers Falls, Lisa and Vincent Ferrara of Wappingers Falls; her daughter-in-law, Judith Montrone of West Palm Beach, FL; her grandchildren, Danielle and Steven Pennock, Jessica Santoro, Michael Montrone, Amanda and Saul Velasquez, Christina Ferrara, Samantha and Tim Rossner; and her great-grandchildren, Connor, Livia, Jack, Isabella and Brandon. She was predeceased by her son, Ralph Montrone.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday at 10:00am at St. Martin de Porres Church, 118 Cedar Valley Road, Poughkeepsie followed by interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla.
