Rose M. Santillo, 92, a resident of Newtown, CT since 2007 and formerly of Poughquag and Yonkers, died on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at Masonicare at Newtown.
Born in Yonkers on March 12, 1921, she was the daughter of Vito and Angela Salamone Cazzolla. She had been employed as a hairdresser and as a nursery school teacher's assistant. Rose was a parishioner of St. Denis Church in Hopewell Junction.
On June 30, 1940 in Yonkers, Rose married Carmine V. Santillo who died on December 1, 2005. She is survived by her children and their spouses, William and Joyce Santillo of Poughquag, George and Phyllis Santillo of Poughquag and Lorraine and Peter Sola of Woodbury, CT; 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She loved her family and always enjoyed cooking for them.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4-7pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10am at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery.
