WAPPINGERS FALLS, NY - Rosellen Mathewson, 80, an area resident for the last two years, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on October 25, 2025. She previously lived in Greenfield Township, PA.
Born in Portland, Maine on September 12, 1945, Rosellen was the daughter of the late Leo and Eleanor (Grzenda) Turissini. Rosellen was an avid reader. A true horticulturist at heart, Rosellen found great joy in gardening, flowering, and planting, with a special affection for cultivating herbs. Her love of nature extended to animals as well-she cared deeply for creatures in need, especially birds, offering them kindness and care whenever possible.
Rosellen is survived by her children and their families, Lisa Winter, her husband Bruce, their children, Breanna (Matthew) Wagner, Brittany Winter, Alysha (James) Willis, and Erica Winter, and their grandchildren, Blakely and Theo; Lynne Fofi, her husband Anthony, their children, Vincent (Briana) Fofi, and Dominick Fofi, and their grandchildren, Aria and Ella; and Ronald LaSota, his wife Maria, and his daughter Miranda. She is also survived by her siblings and their spouses, Joan and William Slacktish and Leo and Patricia Turissini, and their children and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Rosellen was predeceased by her husband, Albert Mathewson in 2023; her son, Brandon LaSota; and her grandson, Bruce Sky Winter and Anthony Fofi.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday November 6, 2025 at 10 am at St. Denis Church 602 Beekman Road Hopewell Junction, NY, followed by burial in St. Denis Cemetery.
