BEEKMAN – Ross A. Eddy, Sr., 68, an area resident for 40 years and previously of Nova Scotia, passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia on September 8, 1946, he was the son of the late Clyde and Edith Mae (Lineham) Eddy. On June 28, 1975 at St. James the Apostle Church in Carmel, Ross married Maryann Coulter Eddy who survives at home.
Ross had been employed as a boiler mechanic at the White Plains Hospital for over 35 years until his retirement in 2012. An avid outdoorsman, Ross enjoyed fishing, hunting, hiking, and antique farm machinery. He was a dedicated NASCAR fan and also liked going to car shows. His best and happiest moments were proudly spent with his family and friends.
In addition to his wife of 39 years, Ross is survived by his children, Andrew Eddy and his wife Sadi of Poughquag, Mark Eddy and his girlfriend Allison Meck of Hyde Park, Ross Eddy, Jr. and his fiancée Virginia Dalton of Poughquag, Noreen Eddy of Poughquag, and Maegan Eddy of Poughquag; his grandchildren, Shawn Douglas Eddy and his girlfriend Jennifer Ballard and Hannah Rose Eddy; his beloved dog, Lucy; and his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews. Ross was looking forward to meeting his first great-grandson, Brayden Michael Eddy in February of 2015.
Calling hours will be held on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday at 10 am at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction followed by interment at St. Denis Cemetery.
