HOPEWELL JUNCTION – Rudolf J. Schnackenberg, 91, passed away on July 27, 2023 at home.

Born in Brooklyn on August 25, 1931, Rudy was the son of the late August and Marie (Ficken) Schnackenberg. He proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War. Before his retirement from Wappingers Central School District as a guidance counselor, he had previously been an English teacher and a German teacher.

An avid reader and nature lover, Rudy enjoyed classical music, astronomy, taking walks, swimming, and traveling.

On May 27, 1972 in Middletown, Rudy married Cecilia (Favero) Schnackenberg who survives at home after 51 years of marriage. He is also survived by his children, John Schnackenberg and his wife Ana of Torrance, CA, Eric Schnackenberg and his wife Lucia of Yonkers, NY, and Norinne Joy Lefkowitz of Manhattan, NY; his grandchildren, Andrew Schnackenberg and his wife Mallory of Houston, TX, Stephen Schnackenberg and his wife Grace of Sommerville, MA, Kimberly Schnackenberg of Garrison, NY, and Jake Schnackenberg of Wappingers Falls, NY ; his great-grandchildren, Maxwell, Carson, Louise, and Graham; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Rudy was also predeceased by his brother, Walter Schnackenberg.
