Obituary


Rudy Colich, 92, died on Monday, November 30, 2009 at the Victory Lake Nursing Center in Hyde Park.


Born in Copa, Austria on May 24, 1917, he was the son of John and Kathryn Zidich Colich.  He served in the US Army as a Technician Fifth Grade during World War II.  While living in Hopewell Junction, he worked as a Civilian Employee for the New York State Department of Corrections at Greenhaven Correctional Facility for 25 years.  He then spent 15 years in Miami, FL where he was a member of the Elks and VFW before moving back to the area 7 years ago.


Rudy was predeceased by his wife, Josephine Tobacco on February 6, 1977 and his son, Frank J. Colich on September 5, 1994.  He is survived by his son Rudy F. Colich of Poughkeepsie; his grandsons, Rudy Colich III of Poughkeepsie, Joseph Colich of Poughkeepsie, Frank J. Colich, Jr. of Seattle, WA, Michael R. Colich of Port Jervis and Nicholas P. Colich of Poughkeepsie; and three great-grandchildren.


There are no calling hours.  There will be a graveside service on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Denis Cemetery, 604 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction with military honors.  Arrangements are under the direction of the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.


In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hospice Foundation, Inc., 374 Violet Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
