Ruth Ellen Ehlers passed away on January 2, 2026 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on September 1, 1940 in Copiague, NY to the late Charles H. and Wilma R. (Tappen) Ehlers.

A graduate of the State University of New York at Oneonta, Ruth was a beloved teacher for 34 years in the Wappingers Central School District. She was a longtime and very involved member of the Christ United Methodist Church in Beacon, NY. Ruth enjoyed singing, toured with her college glee club, sang in various church choirs, a Camerata Chorale, and also sang at many weddings. She loved environmental education and enjoyed doing volunteer work at Stonykill Farm in Wappingers Falls, NY.

Ruth is survived by her beloved sister Lois A. McCue; a niece Kristen Parker and her husband Wayne, nephew Mark McCue and his wife Heather, and great-nephews Jake and Chase McCue. She was pre-deceased by her brother-in-law Daniel McCue. In addition to her family, Ruth leaves behind numerous circles of dear friends who enriched her life immeasurably.

Memorial calling hours will be held on Monday January 5, 2026 from 3-7 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill 1089 Main St. Fishkill, NY. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday January 6, 2026 at 11 am at Christ United Methodist Church 60 Union St. Beacon, NY, followed by interment at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
