Ruth M. Frazier, age 87, a Town of Poughkeepsie resident, went home to be with her beloved husband, Benjamin H. Frazier Jr. on April 26, 2023.
Born on December 5, 1935, in Hughsonville, NY, she was the daughter of Curtis W. Palmatier, Sr. and Emma (Wilklow) Palmatier.
Ruth was a 1955 graduate of Wappingers Central High School. She was a baton twirler in the high school marching band. Ruth worked at DeLaval Separator Company in Poughkeepsie after high school. She also worked at I.B.M. and at several local retail stores. She was a member of the Senior Citizen Group at the Zion Episcopal Church, Wappingers Falls. She was an avid reader and loved to crochet.
On July 13, 1957, at Holy Trinity Church in Poughkeepsie, NY, she married Benjamin H. Frazier Jr. She was married to her loving husband for 56 years.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband Benjamin in 2014 and their daughter, Teresa Marie Frazier, in 1958, her siblings Louise Palmatier, Curtis W. Palmatier Jr. and his former wife Gerda Niebisch, Edwin Palmatier, Charles Palmatier, her niece, Kelsy Ann Carothers and her son-in-law John Scalzo in June of 2022.
She truly loved her cat Hudson, whom she had as a companion for 19 ½ years.
Ruth was a fiercely devoted and proud grandma to her two granddaughters and grandson. She loved them so much!
She is survived by her loving son Brian M. Frazier and his wife Tammy (Risley) of Hickory, NC, her daughter Cynthia M. Scalzo, her sister-in-law, Sandra M Carothers of Hyde Park, granddaughters, Erin E. Frazier and Leah T. Frazier of Hickory, NC, grandson John (Jack) Benjamin Frazier Scalzo of Hyde Park, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10:00-11:30 am at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 8955 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday at 12 pm at St. Mary, Our Lady of the Falls, 11 Clinton Street, Wappingers Falls, followed by burial at St. Peter's Cemetery.
