Obituary

Hopewell Junction- Ruth Hunter passed away on June 23, 2011. She was born in Brooklyn, New York on January 2, 1916 to Frances and Lester Thompson. She attended school in Brooklyn and married Charles Ahmes in 1940. Charles Ahmes passed away in 1955. After many years as a full-time mother to Charles and Richard (deceased) she returned to the workplace and joined the New York Telephone company. There she met Joseph Hunter who she married in 1967. In retirement Mr.& Mrs. Hunter lived in Hopewell Junction, New York and Jupiter Florida. Mr. Hunter passed away in 1998. Ruth Hunter then moved to Tega Cay, South Carolina to reside with her grand-daughter Kathleen and loving family. Ruth loved her family, fishing, the beach and playing cards. She is survived by her son Charles and wife Janice Dias, step-daughter Marianne and husband Ken O'Brien, grand-children Brian Ahmes and wife Leocadie, Kathleen Lotierzo and husband Jeff, Laura Ahmes, Melissa Duggan and husband Keith Welsh, Raymond Duggan and wife Jennifer Mazurkie and Stacey Ahmes. She is survived by great-grandchildren Charles, Jeffrey and Molly Lotierzo and Matise and Madison Ahmes.

Calling hours will be held on Monday from 5 to 7 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 am at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery.
