Ruth G. McDonald, 91, a resident of Wappingers Falls for 29 years and formerly of Queens, died surrounded by her family on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie.
Born in Queens on January 19, 1918, she was the daughter of Frank and Esther Hobley Giorgio. She received her Bachelor's Degree from St. Joseph's College for Women and enjoyed traveling with her family and friends.
On November 20, 1941 at St. Gerard Magella Church in Hollis, Queens, Ruth married Patrick J. McDonald, Jr. who predeceased her on November 24, 1971. She is survived by her children, Ruth Ann Jeffries and her husband, Henry of Watauga, TX, Clare Morabito of Shelton, CT, Jeanne Goodman of Greenwich,NY, Thomas McDonald and his wife, Susan of Poway, CA and Mary Passes and her husband, Harvey of Wappingers Falls; 16 grandchildren: Allison Goodman Gold, Andrew Morabito, Doug Morabito, John Jeffries, Ben Goodman, Patrick Morabito, Rebecca Jeffries, Caren McDonald, Christine McDonald Cicalo, Michael Passes, Michelle Jeffries, Jennifer Passes Lewis, Elizabeth Morabito Alagno, Michael McDonald, Billie Goodman, and Daniel Passes; and 23 great-grandchildren: Joshua, Justin, and Jarod (Jeffries), Kayla, Hunter, Brooke, Mya, Kaitlyn, Shane, Lauryn, Carly and Leah (Morabito), Kina, Noah, Jack, Kate, Phineas, Sammy, Lilyana (Goodman), Lisa, Joshua, and Abigail (McDonald); and Michael (Passes). She was predeceased by her brothers, Frank, Herb and Doug Giorgio, and her grandson Patrick J. McDonald.
Callings hours will be held on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.
Memorial donations may be made to Boys Town and/or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
