Wappingers Falls- Ruth Wisst, a resident of Wappingers Falls since 1964, passed away on July 8, 2023. She was 96 years old.

Ruth was born on December 19, 1926, in Brooklyn, the daughter of William and Emma Metzler. On February 16, 1964 at Trinity Reformed Church in Queens, Ruth married Sigmund Wisst who predeceased her on September 25, 2019. She lived in Queens before coming to Wappingers Falls with her husband Sigmund.

Ruth was a member of the First Reformed Church of Fishkill and the East Fishkill Seniors. She was an avid reader; she loved all books. She was an excellent cook and an even better baker, and extremely talented when it came to needlepoint.

Ruth is survived by her daughter Karen Ryan Maisch of Germany; three grandchildren: Eddie, Michele, and Eric along with their families; two nieces: Inge Reynolds and Edith Tholo; and good friends who were like family: Robert Costa and his family, Dominick Scecchitano and his family, and Greg and Margie Harlin.

Ruth was predeceased by her husband Sigmund and her niece Ruth Dean.

Calling hours will be at McHoul Funeral Home Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction on Friday, July 14, 2023, from 10am to 12pm with a service starting at 12pm. Inurnment to follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
