FISHKILL – Ruth Ann Wolfe, a lifelong local resident, died at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie on Sunday, January 29, 2017.
Daughter of the late Walter and Alice (Backus) Brown, she was born in Beacon on July 3, 1946. Ruth Ann attended local schools and was a member of the first class to graduate from Roy C. Ketcham High School.
On June 25, 1966, she married George M. Wolfe at Trinity Episcopal Church in Fishkill. She was predeceased by her husband in 2001.
Ruth Ann will be remembered by many for her talent and skills, especially sewing, knitting, and crocheting. Her enjoyment of these hobbies inspired her to start her own business, "In Stitches", where she made custom clothing for dolls.
For many years, she worked as a cook manager for the Wappingers Central School District, and retired in 2001. She was a former member of Fishkill Protection Engine Co. Ladies' Auxiliary and the Hudson Valley Artisan's Guild.
Survivors include her son, Richard Wolfe & his wife Laura of Fishkill; daughter, Michelle Roche of Fishkill; son, George Wolfe & his wife Donna of Poughkeepsie; grandchildren, Jessica Roche & her fiancé E.C. Cohn, George Wolfe, and Shannon Wolfe; her sister, Patricia Pucino & her husband Angelo; her niece, Lynn Pucino; many other relatives & friends; and her faithful companion cat "Dunny".
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, February 2nd at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 3rd at the funeral home, with Rev. Linda Willey officiating. Interment will follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
