Obituary

Ryan Edward Nichols, 25, a lifelong area resident, passed away on November 28, 2025 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Born in Poughkeepsie on April 28, 2000, he was the cherished son of Russell Edward Nichols and Lynn Scoralick Nichols. Ryan was a 2018 graduate of Arlington High School where he played football and lacrosse. His football career continued at Buffalo State University and Western Connecticut State University. Ryan was a founding member and technician of Alpha Laundry Repair, LLC in Wallkill and worked alongside his brother-in-law Ryan Widrick.

Ryan loved life, his family, and was a true friend to many. His life was rich with friendships. He was most happy in and around water, whether it be oceans, lakes, ponds, rivers or waterfalls. He was an avid fisherman and boater enjoying many trips on the Hudson River, from Lake Champlain to the Long Island Sound, the Connecticut River, Jersey Shore and most recently the Delaware River. Ryan was very patriotic; he loved boating to the New York Harbor to see the Statue of Liberty and Liberty Landing. He loved animals and enjoyed training his beloved Rottweilers. He loved horses thanks to the inspiration of his sister, Victoria Nichols Widrick. He also enjoyed side-by-siding, snowmobiling, skiing and snowboarding. Ryan was a lifelong member of the Freedom Plains Presbyterian Church where he was baptized and confirmed. Even at a young age, Ryan always enjoyed helping others and giving back to the community. He was a Boy Scout and enjoyed participating in a church mission trip to help rebuild areas of West Virginia following a flood. Ryan was looking forward to joining the Beekman Fire Department.

Ryan is survived by his parents, Russell and Lynn; his sister, Victoria and her husband Ryan Widrick; his grandparents, Barbara Scoralick and Robert Nichols; his uncle, Brian Scoralick and his wife Kim, and their children, Sidney, Brendan and his wife Anna, Tabby and Hailey; his father's cousin, Christopher Jack Case and his wife Jennifer, and Chris' children Jack and Katie; his aunt Chrissy Nichols and her daughter Rebecca; many other extended cousins; and many beloved friends.
