Sally
Potter
September 7, 1941 – February 8, 2025
Sally Michael Potter (Filson), 83, of Carmel, NY, formerly of Apalachin, NY passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2025. She was born to the late Maurice "Mike" and Margaret Filson in Easton, PA.
Sally graduated from Lankenau Medical Center as a Registered Nurse, later became a daycare provider and then a school bus driver. She volunteered her nursing skills to help care for several people in the Apalachin area, provided meals and Christmas presents to families in need and hosted kids through the "Fresh Air Kids" program.
Sally was a person who truly loved to be alive. She saw the beauty in every moment and always took the time to share her wonder with those around her. She enjoyed every sip of coffee and every bit of food (especially when prepared by her son, Josh). Sally appreciated everything to do with nature; a freshly plowed field was as beautiful as a field of wildflowers.
Sally was a person who loved people deeply, but especially her 5 children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was meant to be a mother. Near the end of her life, she would remark with wonder on the vastness of the family she built. She will leave a lasting legacy of care, love, and joy for those lucky enough to be here because of her.
Sally was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. She is survived by her beloved children Michael (Joan); Karen (David); David (Nadia); and Joshua (Dawn); grandchildren Graham (Molly), Jaime (Melissa), Nicole (Dan), Mikayla (Zak), Jordan (Josh), Adam (Kayla), Tyler (Kai), Morgan (Owen), Rowan, Reed, Ryder, and Harper Rose; great- grandchildren, Ethan and Cal; Bennett (Benny); Jack; and Max; sister, Jill (Edwin); nieces, Jenel (Jim), and Jolene (Robert); sisters-in-law, Susan, and Kate; and close family friend, Beth Murphy.
Sally was predeceased by her former husband, David Howland Potter, daughter, Lisa Rae Potter, great-grandson, Jude Canha, and niece, Jewelie Meyer.
Along with her family, Sally held close to her heart her Al-Anon crew who were a second family to her and her longtime friends from the Carmel Central School District Bus Garage.
