Salvatore "Sam" Furnari, 61, a resident of Dutchess County since 1972, died on Friday, December 4, 2009 at his home following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Manhattan on March 11, 1948, he was the son of Helen O'Connor Furnari of Cortlandt Manor and the late Salvatore Furnari.  Together, he and his wife owned and operated California Mobile Catering in LaGrangeville.  Sam enjoyed his job everyday as he ran his coffee truck along Route 55.  He touched the lives of his customers and they touched his life too.  He was a parishioner of St. Denis Church and he enjoyed the outdoors, hiking and swimming.  He especially loved spending time with his family and friends.

On June 24, 1967 in Peekskill, Sam married Barbara Capron who survives at home.  In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his children to whom he was a loving father, Jessica Quint and her husband, Wayne of LaGrange, Lori Ann Furnari of White Plains and Timothy Furnari of Hopewell Junction; and his brothers, Richard Furnari and his wife, Abina of Cortlandt Manor and Thomas Furnari and his wife, Susan of Cortlandt Manor.  He was predeceased by his children, Robin Christine and Anthony Thomas Furnari on October 26, 1986; and his sister, Annette Furnari.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 12:00 p.m. at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery.
