HOPEWELL JUNCTION - Salvatore L. Di Lapi, 81, an area resident for the last 4 years, died on March 19, 2025 at the Yorktown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He previously lived in the Bronx.
Born in the Bronx on October 29, 1943, Sal was the son of the late Alfred and Anna (Oliveto) Di Lapi. He proudly served in the US Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Sal worked for the New York Stock Exchange on Wall Street for over 30 years, and he was a Mutual Clerk at Yonkers Raceway for 46 years.
An avid fan of the NY Yankees, he also liked watching Fox News and collecting tropical fish and Lionel trains. He enjoyed listening to Doo-Wop music, and was a member of the "Stratfords" band when he was younger.
On September 23, 1971 at Holy Rosary Church on Staten Island, Sal married Teresa (Scalice) Di Lapi who survived at home after 53 years of marriage. He is also survived by his children and their spouses, John and Erica Di Lapi, Jessica and Ralph Greenfeld, Maria and Vincent Pipolo, Dana and Vincent Patterson, and Salvatore and Melissa Di Lapi; and his grandchildren, Christopher, Nicholas, and Sofia Di Lapi, Evan Greenfeld, Alyssa and Marielle Pipolo, Anthony, Brendan, and Olivia Patterson, and Salvatore, Juliet, and Bella Di Lapi.
In addition to his parents, Sal was also predeceased by his brother, John Di Lapi.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, March 23rd from 2-6 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, March 24th at 10 am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by military honors.
