Sal was a member of Hopewell Hose Fire Company #1 of East Fishkill Fire District, where he held multiple positions, ran Bingo for many years alongside his wife, worked the tent at community days and other town events, and forged lifelong friendships. He also belonged to the East Fishkill Fire Police and Dutchess County Fire Police.

A devoted Catholic, he was a parishioner at St. Columba Church and belonged to the Knights of Columbus. From the age of 9, he served as an Altar Server and continued to do so while in the Air Force. He was a member of the East Fishkill Senior Center. He also served as Scout Master of BSA in Mount Marion as well as Hopewell Junction.

On May 2, 1954 at St. Patrick's Church in Catskill, Sal married Jean (Zelasko) Provenzano who predeceased him in 2008. He is survived by his daughter, Debra Walker of Poughkeepsie; his son, Salvatore A. Provenzano and his wife Ellen of Beacon; his grandchildren, Salvatore W. Provenzano, Christopher P. Walker, and Alicia Greenstone and her husband Trevor; his great-grandson, Skyler Greenstone; his sister, Clara Weeks; the extended Zelasko family; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Sal was also predeceased by 7 siblings, and many beloved in-laws.

Sal was an avid bowler, loved country music, played the guitar and keyboard, and cheered on the Yankees. He lived a full and long life surrounded by his family. He is now reunited with his beloved wife after 15 years apart.

The family would like to thank Hudson Valley Hospice for their care and compassion.
