HOPEWELL JUNCTION – Salvatore E. Russo, 68, a resident of Hopewell Junction for 4 years, died on September 6, 2021 at home surrounded by his family. He previously lived in the Bronx and Montrose.

Born in the Bronx on January 10, 1953, Sal was the son of the late John and Rose (Rinaldi) Russo. He retired in 2007 as Senior Foreman from Con Edison after 38 years of service.

An avid fisherman, Sal also enjoyed going on vacations especially to the beach. He liked helping others and was a great handyman. Most of all, Sal loved his family and cherished the time he spent with them especially his grandchildren.

On January 25, 1975 at St. Anthony's Church in the Bronx, Sal married Maryanne (Thompson) Russo who survives at home after 46 years of marriage. He is also survived by his children, Nicole Atkins and her husband Michael of LaGrangeville, Salvatore Russo, Jr. and his wife Maria of Garrison, Erica Larcombe and her husband Gregory of Netcong, NJ, Eddie Thompson of Peekskill, and Brendan Thompson of Peekskill; his grandchildren, Jake and Ryan Atkins and Mia Rose and Salvatore Franco Russo; his brother, Corey Russo; his cousin, Leonora Potschsantek; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Sal was also predeceased by his brother, John Russo.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4-8 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday at 10 am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by burial at Assumption Cemetery in Peekskill.
