MIDDLETOWN - Sandra B. “Sam” Hendrickson, a Middletown resident since 1997 and formerly of the Bronx, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2020. She was 76.
Daughter of the late Edward Broughton and Ermine Lindsay, Sandra was born in Manhattan on April 1, 1944. She worked as a Day Habilitation Teacher for ARC Rockland for 15 years, retiring in 2013.
Sam enjoyed many hobbies which included fishing, knitting, tennis, watching soap operas, bowling and playing Wii bowling with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, George P. Hendrickson, Jr. of Enfield, CT; her daughter, Kenya M. Gadsden & her husband Bernard of Fishkill NY; her grandchildren, Natascha Bowles & her husband Brandon of Richmond, VA, Pamela Gadsden of Poughkeepsie, Corene Hendrickson Gadsden of Fishkill NY; Bernard Gadsden II of Fishkill NY, and Christopher K. Hendrickson of Nuremberg, Germany; her great-grandchildren, Ophelia S. Bowles and Joel George Lee Gadsden-Jones; her siblings-in-law, Marie Williams and Jane Hendrickson; as well as her longtime dear friend, Linda Lorde of Middletown. Sam also leaves behind her devoted cat Yolo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her former husband George P. Hendrickson, Sr. as well as her beloved cat Tamika.
