EAST FISHKILL – Santo J. Sottile,77, died at his home on December 2, 2023, surrounded by his family following a courageous battle with cancer. An area resident for 51 years, he was formerly of Brewster.

Born in Sicily, Italy on October 30, 1946, he was the son of Ignazio and Mary (Piccarello) Sottile. Santo proudly served our country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He had been employed in the facilities maintenance department at IBM in East Fishkill until his retirement.

A talented carpenter, Santo enjoyed woodwork and stonework. He also liked playing billiards. He loved working on his home and yard which was a beautiful refuge that included a gorgeous gazebo and koi pond.

On October 1, 1972 at St. Lawrence O'Toole Church in Brewster, Santo married Catherine Nitti who survives at home. He is also survived by his daughter, Jennifer Hatch and her husband Eric; his son, David Sottile; his sister, Paolina Lita; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4-8pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10am at the funeral home.
