FISHKILL – Sarah E. Maurer, 78, died on October 21, 2018 at ArchCare at Ferncliff in Rhinebeck.

Born in Fishkill on January 11, 1940 in Fishkill, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence T. and Lucy (Wren) Maurer. Sarah attended and graduated from Wappingers Central School District. She was a care giver and volunteer at the Craig House in Beacon as well as Castle Point VAMC.

Sarah loved music and was a member of the Sweet Adeline Women's Chorus of Poughkeepsie.

She is survived by her brothers, Hugh J. Maurer of Fishkill, Niel E. Maurer of Sudbury, MA, and George E. Maurer of Jamesville; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her brother, David L. Maurer and her sister, Gwen Maurer Schaurer.

Donations may be made in Sarah's memory to the Dutchess County SPCA. A graveside service will be held on Friday at 1pm at Rombout Cemetery, 1571 Route 52, Fishkill.
