Savino Charles Tambarino Pascarella, aged 95 died on Saturday morning, June 21, 2025. He passed away at Montrose Veterans State Nursing Home. Oldest son of Angelo Charles Pascarella and Maria Tambarino. Raised by Magaret and Charles Pascarella.
Born in Queens, NY. Savino graduated from Newtown High School 1948. During this time he was the star of the track team, Winner of numerous medals and trophies. He is the 1948 Queens Borough Champion in the 880 yard Dash.
Attending St. John's University, he continued to run track. Savino participated in the Penn Relays, Melrose Games and Easterns. At college he met his future wife Louise. Savino and Louise Pascarella were married for 72 years. Graduation from St. John's, however, was put on hold when he joined the military.
Savino is a Veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in The European Theater. He served in the U.S. Marines earning the rank of Lance Corporal, and was part of the first official NATO forces in the European and North African theater. He is the recipient of the following awards: Naval Occupation Medal, and National Defense Ribbon.
After military service he graduated from St. John's University, started a family, was a ranking member of the Knights of Columbus, and ran his own business as a truck driver and Title Insurance Examiner.
He extensively traveled around the world and within the United States of America with his best travel and life companion, his wife Louise.
Savino is survived by his 2 sons, Charles and his wife Marilyn and their 3 children: Jeffrey, Matthew, LeAnne; and Steven and his wife Casey and their children, Steven and Kelly; He also had two great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Joseph. Brother to the late Charles Pascarella, Patrick, Nicholas, Phillip, John Pascarella and Ann Sadat.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 27th from 4 - 8 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Funeral Mass is being offered on Saturday, June 28th at 11:30 am at St. Joseph's Church, 95 Plum Brook Road, Somers, NY followed by burial at Rose Hills Memorial Park.
