Sharon L. Young, 55, a resident of Wappingers Falls since 1989, died on November 19, 2015 at home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. She previously lived in Beacon and Montrose.

Sharon was born in Buchanan on February 8, 1960. She had been employed in the commissary at Downstate Correctional Facility for over 35 years until her retirement this past April.

Sharon is survived by her daughter, Michelle Estupinan of Wappingers Falls; her son, who is currently stationed in the US Coast Guard, Christopher Young and his wife Jean; her grandchildren, Dustin, Dylan, and Corinne; her parents, Richard H. and Betty Jane (Travis) Shubert of Hopewell Junction; her siblings, Richard James Shubert, Scott Michael Shubert, and Joanne Elizabeth Pendleton; her aunt, Bonnie Tompkins; her dog, Sydney, who was her devoted companion; and her nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2-5 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday at 2 pm at the funeral home followed by inurnment at Hopewell Cemetery.
