Obituary

Sheila Kelly Williams, 80, an area resident since 1967, died peacefully on December 23, 2025 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Key West, Florida on February 21, 1945, she grew up in Yonkers and Croton on Hudson, and lived most of her life in Hopewell Junction, NY.

Sheila was the daughter of the late Francis and Harriet Kelly (nee Murphy).

To many, Sheila was best known as "Mrs. Williams" the beloved second grade school teacher at St. Denis - St. Columba School in Hopewell Junction where she taught for more than 30 years. Sheila loved teaching and most especially loved preparing her students to receive their First Holy Communion.

On September 28, 1966, in Croton, NY, Sheila married the love of her life, Thomas Francis Williams, who predeceased her on June 4, 2024. They had two sons, Thomas Kelly Williams and Brian Williams. She was predeceased by her beloved son, "Tommy", on December 10, 2005. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Patricia, Francis, Eileen, Joseph, and John Kelly, as well as her brother-in-law George Williams.

Sheila is survived by her son, Brian Williams; her daughter-in-law, Hillary Post Williams; her grandsons, Thomas Francis Williams and Kyle Kelly Williams and Kyle's wife Allison Peet; her brothers, Thomas, Kevin, Ned, Peter, Paul and James Kelly; their spouses and partners, and many, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 5 from 3- 7pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, January 6 at 10am at Saint Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery.
