Daughter of the late William and Gloria Mae (Carney) Griffiths, she was born in Newburgh on October 23, 1950. In her youth, Sherry took up ice skating and played flute in the school band. Sherry will be remembered as someone who went out of her way to be kind and help others. Her selfless spirit of generosity did not go unnoticed. She always maintained communication with family and friends, never forgetting to send a birthday card or making routine phone calls. Her family meant the world to her, and she truly cherished spending time with loved ones.

On December 22, 1987, she married Frank Jacopino in Newburgh. Frank survives at home in Oakdale.

Additional survivors include her daughter, Holly Squarci of Highland Mills; her daughter, Christina Sievers & her husband Douglas of Selden; her son, Larry Jacopino & his wife Terri of Pawling; her grandchildren, Nicholas Squarci & his wife Gina, Michael Alvarado Jr., Katherine Sievers, and Daniel Jacopino & his wife Sarah; her great-grandchildren, Scarlett Squarci, Daniel Jacopino, and Dominick Jacopino; her sister, Pamela Griffiths Wilbur & her husband Mark; her brother, William K. Griffiths; several nieces and nephews including Heath Conklin & his wife Nicole and Heather Young & her husband Charlie; many great-nieces and great-nephews; her aunt and uncle, Madaline and Don Carney; as well as many cousins and other loving family members.
