In Loving Memory of Sheryl Layton
Sheryl Layton, born on May 7, 1956 in Monticello, New York, passed away surrounded by love. She spent most of her life in Beacon where her presence was impossible to miss and impossible to forget.
Known for her great sense of humor and infectious laughter, Sheryl lit up every room she walked into. Her magnetic personality, compassionate heart, and unmistakable voice gave her a way of making everyone feel like family. To know Sheryl was to love her.
Sheryl's son meant the world to her. She referred to him as "my Chris." She loved playing games on her tablet, watching Chicago PD, and spending time with her dear friend Patti. Sheryl's favorite role was that of grandmother. She treasured her time with her grandkids and loved being their grandmother, never failing to spend as much time with Riley and Harper as possible. Sheryl also had a soft spot for her furry friends. Sheryl and her friends were practically inseparable throughout their lives. From high school to today, they were together through it all. Sheryl and Patti had a friendship that spanned 55 years and turned friends to sisters. Shelby was one of her best friends that she could always count on. They shared a love of holidays and decorating together.
She is survived by her son Christopher, two grandchildren, Riley and Harper, two sisters, and three brothers.
A moment of time will honor the bold and beautiful life she lived - a life full of love, laughter, and the kind of warmth that stays long after the moment has passed. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
Sheryl's burial will be held Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at Wappingers Falls Rural Cemetery, Route 9D, Wappingers Falls, NY. Family and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. before leaving in procession to the cemetery at 11:30 a.m.
