Sigrid Kubik Mcgrath's Obituary
Sigrid Evalyn Kubik McGrath, 87, a longtime Pawling resident died at New Milford Hospital on Sunday, August 25, 2024 surrounded by family. She was born in New York City on September 8, 1936 to Vera (Allen) and Howard Kubik.
She graduated from Pawling High School in 1954, attended Grove City College, PA and graduated from the Berkeley School of Business in White Plains.
On April 12, 1958 she married her high school sweetheart Thomas P. McGrath who predeceased here in 2021. She is survived by her sons: Darren (Dixie), Blake (Sally), and Ryan (Mary Lou), and daughter Jody Lape (Bill). Her beloved infant daughter Anne Marie predeceased her. She is also survived by her 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, sisters-in laws, Elizabeth Grogan and Catherine Roberts (Peter) and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her brother Allen Kubik.
Sigrid retired in 1992 from IBM where she held many positions for over 20 years; her favorite being a mentor in the education department. She was a member of the Pawling PTA, We-Totem Camping Club, Wells Garden Club, and the Wells Historical Society. She especially enjoyed playing cards with the Pawling Seniors.
Sig and Tom travel and camped extensively across the US and Canada with their children. Their trip cross country to Alaska was one of their favorites. They lived in the Hudson Valley, Adirondacks, Catskills and were Florida snowbirds for many years.
One of her favorite things to do was teaching her grandchildren the importance of manners with elaborate tea parties. Sigrid received great joy from volunteering in her local towns. She was very patriotic and felt strongly about civic participation.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no calling hours. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
