Silverio Scotti
Jr.
August 4, 1926 – March 11, 2026
In Loving Memory of Silverio Scotti, Jr.
Silverio Scotti, Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at home in Fishkill on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. He was 99 years old. Silverio lived nearly a century, witnessing tremendous change in the world, yet holding tightly to the values that defined him: loyalty, family, hard work, faith, and heritage. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, love, and pride that will continue to guide those who knew and loved him.
Born on August 4, 1926, in Ponza, Italy, he was the son of the late Silverio and Olimpia (Conte) Scotti. At just nine years old, he came to the United States, beginning a remarkable life defined by resilience, hard work, devotion to family, and deep pride in his heritage. In 1945, Silverio answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Army during World War II. He served honorably and was discharged in 1947, carrying with him a quiet pride in having served his nation. For 23 years, he worked for the NYC Department of Sanitation, retiring in 1985. Those who knew him knew he was never afraid of hard work. But beyond his work ethic, Silverio lived life with curiosity, energy, and gratitude. He was happiest outdoors-hunting, fishing, and enjoying nature. He loved to travel and share adventures with his family and lifelong friends, creating memories that will be cherished for generations.
Perhaps nothing meant more to him than his Italian roots. His heritage was a source of immense pride throughout his life, and he remained a devoted member of the San Silverio Shrine of Dover Plains Social Club, keeping contact with all the Ponzesi. He loved attending the Feasts in Dover Plains, often carrying the Saints for procession, dancing, and playing bocce. All those traditions and community meant so much to him.
On June 13, 1962, he married the love of his life, Santina Scarfi, in Ponza, Italy. Their marriage was one of deep devotion and partnership, a bond that carried them through decades of life, family, and memories together. They spent over two decades residing between Ponza, Italy, and Fishkill, New York. Santina survives him at their home in Fishkill.
Silverio's greatest joy was his family. In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his daughters, Linda Scotti and her husband, Jack Schneider, of Potomac, MD; Patricia Golden and her husband, Michael, of Brunswick, GA; and Olimpia Bernard and her husband, Donald, of Stormville, NY. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Luke Schneider, Andrew Golden and his wife Molly, Matthew Golden, Benjamin Bernard, Brian Bernard, and Brandon Bernard, and a cherished great-grandfather to Liam, Caroline, and Madden. Nothing brought him greater happiness than seeing his family grow and thrive.
He was predeceased by his son, Silverio "Junior" Scotti, in 1981, and his sister, Ida Romano. Though their loss remained with him, his love for them never faded.
