Stanley B. Miller, a resident of Fishkill since 1968, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2026, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. His wife, Rose, and his sister, Ruth, were with him at his bedside. He was 87 years old.
Stanley was born in Poland on January 5, 1939. He was the son of Otto and Olga (Schmidt) Miller. After immigrating to the United States, he proudly served his adopted country in the United States Army, attaining the rank of Lieutenant. His dedication to service reflected the deep sense of gratitude and patriotism he carried throughout his life.
For over 30 years, Stanley worked as an engineer at IBM, where he was respected for his intelligence, integrity, and strong work ethic. Following his retirement, he continued to pursue the passions that brought him joy and fulfillment.
A faithful member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Fishkill, Stanley lived his life grounded in quiet faith and devotion. He was also an accomplished watercolor artist, blessed with remarkable natural talent despite having no formal training.
Through his paintings, he captured the beauty of the world around him with warmth and sensitivity. He found great pleasure in gardening and took pride in nurturing his plants, especially his red currant bushes from which he made delicious jams and syrups. He was a devoted member and patron of Stony Kill Farm, appreciating its mission and community spirit.
Stan is survived by his loving wife, Rose; his son Mark Miller; his devoted sister, Ruth Miller: and many relatives in Florida and Germany. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his former wife, Gitta Miller.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Fishkill Rural Cemetery, 801 Route 9, Fishkill, NY 12524.
Stan will be greatly missed and remembered for his steady presence, artistic spirit, devotion to family, and the quiet strength with which he lived his life.
