Stefano J. Pedone, 93, a resident of Hopewell Junction and formerly of Mount Vernon, died peacefully on Monday, December 9, 2013 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
Born on June 23, 1920 in Mount Vernon, he was the son of the late Donato and Catherine Colangelo Pedone. He proudly served our country in the US Army. Employed by the City of Mount Vernon for 40 years, Stefano was the Director of Weights and Measures and the Director of Consumer Affairs until his retirement in 2003. He served as the Chairman for the South Eastern Weights and Measures Association of New York State where he has been a member since 1965. He was also President for 3 two year terms during 1974-1975, 1981-1982 and 1999-2000. He was also a member of the Davenport Beach Club.
On December 31, 1944 in Mount Vernon, he married Clarinda Gomes who survives at home. In addition to his wife, Stefano is survived by his children, Catherine Perillo of Hopewell Junction, and Daniel Pedone of West Arlington, NJ; his grandchildren, Stephen and his wife, Jamie of Wappinger Falls and Manny and his wife, Valerie of Wappingers Falls; and his great-grandchildren, Lucas, Maia, Justin and Austin. He is predeceased by his brother, William Pedone.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 10 am at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction followed by burial with military honors at St. Denis Cemetery.
