POUGHKEEPSIE - Steven Conn Whitney, 71, died on November 10, 2025 at the Hudson Valley Hospice House. He was a 50-year-old resident of the Hudson Valley.

Born on August 16, 1954 in Warsaw, Steven was the son of the late Ivan and Kathryn (Conn) Whitney. He retired in 2010 after 30 years of service with the New York State Department of Transportation.

An avid outdoorsman, Steven enjoyed hunting, fishing, and shooting, and was a member of the Hudson Valley Sportsmen's Association. He also liked to make plastic models, especially military planes.

He is survived by his siblings, Cheryl Englert and her husband Fred and Douglas Whitney; his brother-in-law, Bob Celmer; his nephews and nieces, Daniel and Holly Englert, Matthew Englert, Amy Celmer, and David Celmer; and his great-nephews and great-niece, Griffin, Owen, and Lilyana.

In addition to his parents, Steven was also predeceased by his sister, Christine Celmer.
