Obituary

HOPEWELL JUNCTION, N.Y. – Susan Kathryn Michelmore, 70, died on December 21, 2018 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center after a courageous battle with various health issues.

She previously lived in Detroit, MI and Miami, FL.

Born in Detroit, MI on March 11, 1948, Susan was the daughter of the late Norman and Isabel (McCauley) Brown.

Susan was a journalism graduate of Michigan State University and worked as a reporter for the Detroit Free Press during the 1970s. In the early 1980s she was the newspaper's Canadian correspondent, based in Toronto. In 1985, she began a new career as a global risk analyst for Ackerman and Palumbo, and then Kroll Inc., in Miami, FL., assessing the risks for multi-national companies doing business overseas. The job included traveling to several countries in Europe to gather material for her reports.

On January 6, 1988 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Susan married William "Bill" Michelmore, a former reporter at the Detroit Free Press. He survives her at home. She is also survived by her siblings, Kerry Brown and Erin (Michael) Brotherton, both of Manton, MI; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Jack Brown.

In her retirement Susan enjoyed writing letters and embroidery. More than anything, she enjoyed traveling the world with her husband Bill, and especially loved their visit to Australia.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Michigan.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, in memory of her father, a World War II veteran, and her brother Kerry, who served in Korea.

Arrangements are under the direction of the McHoul Funeral Home, Hopewell Junction, N.Y. Please visit her Book of Memories at www.mchoulfuneralhome.com.
