Suzanne D. Power, a retired teacher born in Red Bank, N.J., raised in New York City and lived more than 50 years in New York's Hudson Valley region, passed away June 28 at home at age 87.

She was a woman of faith, a member of Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Church in LaGrangeville, N.Y. belonging to the Altar Rosary Society, Cenacle, and Cursillo. She was a Faith Formation Catechist there from 2006-12. She received certificates and worked with adults at Literacy Volunteers of America.

She taught kindergarten and first grade for more than 30 years in the Hendrick Hudson School District, after graduating from Holy Cross Academy in NYC in 1956 and Ladycliff College in Highland Falls, N.Y. in 1960.

In addition to her parents, Joseph Brownson Power, Sr. and Catherine Lawless Power, she is predeceased by her six siblings: Joan Cullen, Brownson Power, Catherine Dosa, Barbara Mattura, Sheila Potter, and Alicia Bertrand.

Calling hours will be held at McHoul Funeral Home, 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, N.Y. on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 from 4-8 p.m. Mass will be Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at 10 a.m., at Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Church, 1925 Route 82, LaGrangeville, N.Y. Burial at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Red Bank, N.J.
